Once in a while, dorm halls have leftover empty rooms after all the reshuffling and assigning is complete. It just so happens that some halls have more than others – namely, the highest and most countercultural floor in an 80 year old building without elevators. Thus, with four people in two double rooms and four rooms empty, the Powers that Be decided to unroll said double rooms.
And so I’m here. The room next door, actually. I’ll probably stay here for the next n semesters or until I get sick of climbing stairs. Naturally, I have pics.
Moving stuff around was convenient, since all the furniture is the same. I found it easier to just move drawers or whole shelves with my stuff still on it.
Serendipitously, I found this hiding in a corner of a mirror. Gee, what a fortune.
No, I don’t mind sleeping next to an outlet, I swear. Or an ethernet drop. The layout of plugs and jacks in this room is haphazard beyond anything. No furniture fits anywhere without blocking something!
I had a brilliant plan of moving the computer desk to this location and scooting the bed outwards such that it was one comfy internet couch of sorts. That plan faded when I discovered the bed isn’t height-adjustable and would block the keyboard slide and all the drawers.
Wow, what’s a power outlet doing up THERE? I suppose it’s just asking for some kind of multi-storey loft… Hmmm….
I like this room, actually. Not the least of reasons, of course, is because it’s a single room. Now it’s time to deck out the walls with thin-film displays!
Oh, this post was interrupted at about 1:35 because someone set off the fire alarm and we all had to evacuate. Oh well.
