Some more searching through my pile of rubble revealed a 12mm Axle Spacer of Convenience. Drilled it to 10mm, and slammed it along with the pulley onto the motor shaft. Most of the drive mechanics are now complete. So theoretically, I can run a wheelspin test, except it probably won’t go too far – I don’t have batteries, a suitable controller, or anything else yet. Latest pics…
16 tooth 5mm GT pulley installed on motor. The bore is 2mm too large, but the gap was bridged by a convenient piece of steel spacer that was drilled to size. The set screw holes are a bit far out on the shaft, and I might just drill the pulley and use a pin.
A shot of the drive mechanics as they will probably appear. I’m not sure why I went with flangeless pulleys, so it will need a belt tensioner/retainer. The tension seems alright by itself, but everything is on ball bearings, so more doesn’t hurt. No, the far right motor screw cannot fall out of mount, just to pre-emptively dispel some nitpicky things.
Next: Belt retainer, all the electronics, and maybe some random decor! 2 weeks remaining!
That’s impressive. I hope you get it ready in time for college.
