It is, therefore, literally half van and half truck, transcending traditional vehicle role boundaries.<\/p>\n<h1>Wait, did you actually BUY THIS?<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt6-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maybe.<\/p>\n<h1>WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt10-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nothing, but perhaps everything, depending on your frame of reference and soundness of mind. All things are relative, you see.<\/p>\n<h1>Does it&#8230; work?<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt7-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The powertrain is in good repair, the engine pulls well, the frame and underbody are fairly clean, but some of the electrical accessories do not work, including somewhat important things like turn signals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt11-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though I am told you don&#8217;t need those in Boston, the Massachusetts Vehicle Check program at least wants to see that There Was an Attempt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt8.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt8-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It also had a tire blowout event in a past life which left these holes in the fiberglass fenders. They, too, will be repaired.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt9.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt9-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The interior also needs a good detail. Untold numbers of old flubby white people have likely committed unspeakable acts on this convertible rear bench seat and futon.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to erase all potential history of this.<\/p>\n<h1>What are you going to do with it?!<\/h1>\n<p>Use it as a van and a truck, simultaneously, like <strong>GOD INTENDED<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt14.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/pics\/vt\/vt14-mid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cosmetically clean it up and low-effort restore it, including pre-emptive rustproofing and electrical system detangling.<\/p>\n<h1>That sounds boring.<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/insideevs.com\/salvaged-tesla-model-s-rear-drive-unit-spun-bench-videos\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/insideevs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/111-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Image: InsideEVs via Jason Hughes<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Eventually, reverse-engineer and install a Tesla PxxD powertrain. I have a bone to pick with <a href=\"https:\/\/syonyk.blogspot.com\/2016\/03\/is-tesla-building-throwaway-cars.html\">how Tesla handles indepedent service and repair<\/a>, and think it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetruthaboutcars.com\/2015\/10\/tesla-doesnt-want-work-cars\/\">sets a very bad precedent for the automotive industry<\/a>. Therefore, one of my future projects is to revive a trashed\/crashed Tesla vehicle (whether wholly or in pieces) with minimal support and authorization from Tesla &#8211; ideally none &#8211; and open source the process &amp; create solutions for adapting their parts to nefarious uses. I liken it to the DIY muscle car engine swap of the 21st century; the ideas and goals are the same, the tools and skills are different. I&#8217;ve been <a href=\"https:\/\/teslamotorsclub.com\/tmc\/threads\/repairing-a-flooded-tesla-model-s-how-to.60987\/\">rage-reading this thread<\/a> too much recently, and one of the things that spurred this desire was <a href=\"http:\/\/insideevs.com\/salvaged-tesla-model-s-rear-drive-unit-spun-bench-videos\/\">following the progress<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/wizkid057\/videos\">Jason Hughes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>ARE YOU INSANE?<\/h1>\n<p>Maaaaaybe.<\/p>\n<h1>Why can&#8217;t you just be normal and buy a used Nissan Leaf?<\/h1>\n<p>That would be giving up.<\/p>\n<h1>How do I back your Kickstarter?<\/h1>\n<p>This project has no definite timeline. Definitely post-#season3, possibly beyond that, so I do not have a fundraising source for it planned.\u00a0 Just keep buying <a href=\"http:\/\/e0designs.com\/products\/ragebridge2\/\">Ragebridges<\/a>. There are no plans to mothball or decommission it. Vantruck is larger than most Cambridge city blocks, so there is no way I am able to casually use it anyhoo.
